The Good Tee Organic Fair Trade T-Shirt Review
The Good Tee is a sustainable clothing brand focusing on high quality Fairtrade Certified organic cotton t-shirts.
This socially responsible brand allows ethical shoppers to easily learn about the transparent supply chain and trace the manufacturing process through videos and resources highlighting The Good Tee’s partner suppliers and the materials used.
The Good Tee founder, Adila, spent a lot of time in India to research factories, cotton farms, and supply chains. She even wrote a book, Source My Garment, which explores responsible sourcing. After years of helping other brands source sustainably, Adila decided to start selling organic tees directly to consumers.
Currently, The Good Tee crafts organic tees for the entire family including men, women, kids, and baby’s apparel.
Adila chose to focus on t-shirts because of the practicality and sustainability of basic tees. A high quality cotton t-shirt can last for years, be styled many different ways, and biodegrade at the end of its life cycle.

T-Shirts Made with Organic Fair Trade Cotton
Thankfully The Good Tee clothing is made with GOTS certified organic cotton, a natural fiber which biodegrades, having less impact on the planet. The cotton used for crafting garments is also fair trade certified.
Why is organic cotton important in t-shirts?
We often think of organic in relation to what we eat or put in our bodies, but the materials we clothe our bodies with are just as important. Since the skin is the largest organ, chemicals from clothing can be absorbed and passed throughout our bloodstream.
Organic cotton is grown without toxic pesticides and fertilizers which means you’re putting a cleaner material on your skin. Not only is organic cotton good for the consumer, but it is also better for the environment and farmers. The reduction of toxic pesticides and fertilizers keeps soil and water clean in farming communities.
Why is Fair Trade Certified Cotton Important?
As conscious consumers, we tend to think of fair trade certified in relation to garment factories. While factory certifications are incredibly important, it is also important to think about the materials used to make the garment and where they are coming from.
By using fair trade certified cotton, this advocates for the fair treatment and well being of the farmers. Cotton lobbyist groups estimate one cotton farmer takes their own life every eight hours. Many farmed suicides are linked to debts related to genetically modified cotton.
The Good Tee is a proud partner of Fairtrade Canada, a non-profit that promotes sustainable livelihoods for farmers and workers; protects fragile ecosystems; and builds strong, transparent supply chains through independent, third-party certification.
For every fair trade certified product manufactured, the brand pays an additional 1.5% premium which goes back to support the farmers and their community. Collectively, farmers vote on how to spend the funds and address local needs so families can thrive.
Fair Trade Organic T-Shirts
Not only is the cotton used to craft The Good Tee’s clothing fair trade, but this certified B Corporation also partners with a fair trade garment factory, Assisi Garments. Assisi Garments invests in the community by supporting various social projects, including an old age home and children's orphanage in South India.
The Good Tee founder, Adila, has been able to visit the factory multiple times and build a relationship with the factory.
It’s really wonderful that The Good Tee’s sustainable clothing is made both with fair trade certified cotton AND made in a fair trade certified factory. This ethical clothing brand really values transparency.
The Good Tee Product Review
The Good Tee refers to t-shirts as being made with “Damn Good Cotton.” I’m here to say this is 100% true.
Woman’s Relaxed Fit Batwing Tee Review
I LOVE my Relaxed Fit Batwing Tee. I absolutely love the flowy fit of this shirt. It drapes over my body beautifully and is incredibly comfortable. The high low hem and long ribbed cuffs add a bit of detail.
The thicker feel of the fabric makes me confident this tee is made to last and crafted with high quality materials. The ¾ sleeves make this a great tee to have for all seasons. I appreciate that I can dress this tee up or down depending on my daily schedule.
Investing in high quality basics is a great place to start your conscious closet due to the price point and practicality. Basic tees never go out of style and are able to be styled in a variety of ways.
That’s why I love what The Good Tee is doing! The Good Tee has some wonderful resources on their website such as their impact calculator which shows customers their environmental impact from purchasing organic tees.
I sincerely loved chatting with Adila, founder of The Good Tee and feel this is an incredibly genuine brand. If you’re looking for some new tops I highly recommend checking out The Good Tee. Use the code “Honest20” to receive 20% off your purchase through June 18, 2020.
