Birdy Grey: Affordable Bridesmaid Dresses That Give Back

Birdy Grey was founded in Fall 2017 by longtime best friends Grace Lee and Monica Ashauer. After being bridesmaids multiple times these entrepreneurs started to realize just how expensive being a bridesmaid can be.

The co-founders set out to create a seamless online shopping experience to create flattering dresses that complement a variety of wedding palettes, at a price that makes everyone happy.

How Birdy Grey Gives Back

Birdy Grey gives back through their partnership with The Princess Project. The Princess Project is a non-profit that promotes self-confidence and individual beauty by providing free prom dresses and accessories to high school teens who cannot otherwise afford them.

Birdy Grey customers are able to ship their gently worn bridesmaid dresses back and these dresses are then donated to The Princess Project.

I love this initiative because I think so many bridesmaid dresses get worn once and end up in landfills. This sustainable approach of donating the dresses makes sure the beautiful dress gets re-worn and helps those in need.

A few months ahead of time I ordered the free swatches and immediately fell in love with the color. The swatches were quick to ship and I was so glad to be able to see the color in person before having my bridesmaids order the dresses.

During my wedding planning I was focusing on earthy tones and their sage green color fit my vision perfectly. This color was absolutely stunning on all my bridesmaids. We mixed and matched styles which was fun.

My bridesmaids wore different styles including the Simone, Chicky Convertible, Genie, and more. Also, fun fact, some of the bridesmaid dresses have pockets which was a big hit! This allowed my bridesmaids to easily carry and make up or their phones during the big day.

What I loved about Birdy Grey was that the bride could pick a color and the bridesmaids could pick the style they felt most confident in. I chose the sage green color, forwarded the website on to my bridesmaids and they were able to choose the style based on what fit their body type the best and made them feel fabulous.

I think allowing bridesmaids to choose a style is great, so many times bridesmaids wear the same style which some ladies don’t always feel confident in. My bridesmaids loved having the freedom to pick out their own style.

Great Variety of Colors & Styles

Birdy Grey has a wonderful variety of styles including convertible dresses, dresses with different necklines, sleeveless dresses, jumpsuits, and strapless dresses. The dresses offer a few different fabric options which allows bridesmaids to choose the fabric they are most comfortable in and feel most confident in.

They have an incredible range of color options with great choices for any bride's color palette.

On top of bridesmaid dresses Birdy Grey recently started carrying groomsmen accessories such as pocket squares, suits, bow ties, and gifts making this a one-stop shop for wedding parties.

Affordable Bridesmaid Dresses Under $100

When searching for socially responsible bridesmaid dresses, I found a lot of custom made options, but those seemed to be rather pricey. I knew my friends were probably only going to wear the dress once, so I wanted a dress that was budget friendly.

I also wanted a plan for the dress after the wedding because I’m a sustainability geek and didn’t want dresses to end up in the landfill. Birdy Grey offered both of these!

The bridesmaid dresses were an affordable price of $99 and their partnership with The Princess Project ensures the dresses will get multiple wears. After the wedding day bridesmaids can mail their dresses back to be donated ensuring the dresses don't end up in a landfill.

Size Inclusive: Maternity, Petite, & Plus Size Bridesmaid Dresses

I sincerely appreciate that Birdy Grey is a size inclusive brand. Their bridesmaid dresses range from XXS-XXXL which is great. On top of catering to petite and plus size bridesmaids, they also have maternity bridesmaid dresses too.

I think this really sets Birdy Grey apart because finding a bridesmaid dress brand that is size inclusive and allows all your ladies to feel confident can be tricky. Their in-depth size chart helps bridesmaids feel confident in the dresses they order.

As the bride I was incredibly pleased with the Birdy Grey dresses! I loved how the bridesmaid gowns looked. The bridesmaid dresses were well made, the color was beautiful, and the ship time was quick.

2023 Birdy Grey Review Update

Since my wedding, I've been a bridesmaid in other weddings. I always purchase my bridesmaid dress from Birdy Grey when given the choice. I've continued to be impressed by the quality of the dresses and because of their range of dress colors they always have something that will fit with the wedding style.
